What is NMCFS?

The National Museum and Center for Service was founded by former Congressman, Brian Baird. Mr. Baird has long believed in the power of service to unite Americans. Recognizing a lack of museums that honor the hard work and contributions of everyday citizens, he created NMCFS to celebrate acts of service within American communities and to inspire others to make service a part of their lives.

NMCFS at Sidwell Friends School.

Sidwell Friends School, a Quaker school in Washington, D.C., proudly participates in the NMCFS initiative. In 2024, former Congressman Brian Baird and Tannie Rey Zapata from Sidwell’s Admissions team introduced the program to the school and to Osewe Ogada, a member of the Sidwell Class of 2026. Osewe started the project, and we hope that it will continue for many years to come.

Thank you so much to Mr. Brian Baird and Ms. Tannie Rey Zapata for making this project possible and we are so greatful for all of their ongoing support.
