One of the key aspects of the significance of the NMCFS project is that it applauds the service of members of our communities.

In addition, there are three other key aspects of its significance.

​

First, it is crucial to know there are other people out there who are championing the same causes as you. As someone interested in Politics (Osewe speaking), it can often seem that the majority of elected officials, regardless of where they fall on the political spectrum, are ineffective or only in office to serve themselves. Furthermore, it is common to see people fall back on partisan lines instead of prioritizing the country. Yet throughout the NMCFS process, I have had the luxury to engage with public officials who truly care about the issues. Their examples have further inspired me to stay optimistic.

Second, for young people who have an idea of what avenue of service they aim to pursue for their community, NMCFS provides concrete life examples of people who have accomplished what they are seeking to do and can help provide a plan for them to achieve their aspirations.

Third, NMCFS also reassures young people who are unsure of how they want to contribute to their communities that they do not need to rush to find their purpose. It highlights that plans can change since the only important constant pertaining to service is one’s will to do good.
