Our Testimonial

We are incredibly grateful to be involved in the NMCFS project. Going to a Quaker school, we have learned to center our efforts on serving our community and caring for others—so this project truly resonated with us. It was eye‑opening to discover the many different forms that service can take, and how each expression of it is equally meaningful. Hearing the interviewees’ stories and witnessing their remarkable dedication was truly inspiring.

In particular, Nina Santiago’s and Delaney Kempner’s passion for their government work, and their unwavering commitment to putting service above all else, touched us deeply. This experience has encouraged us to continue walking the path of service throughout our lives.

I, Osewe, have long been interested in the idea of service in the form of my career. I have long aspired to become a lawyer and then transition into a career in Government. I would argue that these are both occupations are highly lauded.

Throughout the many interviews I conducted for the NMCFS, however, I have realized that real service is about other people; it is about something greater than yourself.

I have always viewed joining the military as the ultimate sacrifice. Yet before the NMCFS, I thought “someone else can do it”.

After the NMCFS, I now take pride in my commitment to join the US military for several years after college. If all goes to plan, I will serve as a Navy SEAL one day.

The NMCFS has taught me the real meaning of service. As someone who aspires to be a public servant, that is an invaluable lesson of which I will forever be grateful for.
